Grape Witches Natural Wine Scholarship

The Grape Witches Grant is a $5000 CAD scholarship for BIPOC wine professionals interested in sustainability, environmental stewardship and creativity in the wine industry. It is open to all residents of Canada. It can flexibly be applied to enrollment in programs including WSET, Court of Master Sommeliers, diploma or degree programs in winemaking or viticulture at home or abroad, or graduate wine business courses such as those offered by UC Davis. Is there another wine program you have in mind? We're open to any accredited and professional organizations. Understanding starting and succeeding in the wine industry takes more than a knowledge of wine, it can also be applied to web design, social media and photography courses for those looking to launch or develop their business, or to language courses related to upcoming courses or wine travel - reasoning must be included.

While being directly involved in the natural wine space is not required, successful candidates will have a keen interest in true sustainability and what will be required as an industry to adapt and succeed. As climate change continues to have drastic effects and the importance of hybrids, PIWIS and other creative solutions become necessary, we're looking for a candidate with a unique vision who can look beyond the status quo to the future of wine.

Grape Witches is a Toronto-based wine shop, bar and community space with two locations, an import business and a thriving education and event offering. Looking to bring an equitable lens to hospitality, they began their Grant program in 2019, looking to invest in the BIPOC wine community and allow folks to reach their goals, both in entering the hospitality space and reaching leadership positions. With this aim, they are delighted to partner with Vinequity to increase their reach and connect with more talented candidates. They are looking for one strong annual candidate to accept this annual prize. Mentorship with the Grape Witches team is included with this Scholarship.
